I'm very proud to be a part of the "Border Songs" album, a collection of performances, featuring Pete Seeger, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Amos Lee, Charles Bowden, Calexico, Eliza Gilkyson, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Chuck Cheesman and many others. All proceeds go to No Mas Muertes/No More Deaths, a humanitarian aid organization based in Tucson, Arizona. My humble contribution is a reading/performance of a new fable I wrote especially for the occasion titled "What Coyote Brought." (They tell me I do a pretty good coyote, badger and mouse.) "Abraham Lincoln Rides A Bike To The Oscars" by Ted Johnson makes the call for celebrities attending the Oscars to ride a bike to the event. It's no coincidence Mr. Johnson blogs for CommuteByBike.com, a site for avid bike commuters and those who are seriously considering ditching their cars (or at least driving a lot less). For the last three years, Mr. Johnson has made the same invitation to Oscar attendees, and so far, there have been no takers. Who knows? Maybe this will be the year. I am delighted an honored to illustrate this year's Daniel Day-Lewis/Lincoln-themed piece.
